Providence, Rhode Island, -April 27, 2005 – In an effort to increase community awareness and involvement, the Sexual Assault & Trauma Resource Center announces the launch of action alerts, an
statewide email notification system. To sign up, visit www.satrc.org. Through email action alerts, SATRC will update community members on state and federal legislation,
upcoming events, and other initiatives related to sexual violence. "In a technology driven world, utilizing the Internet and email is the next logical step to increase sexual assault awareness," says Peg
Langhammer, executive director, SATRC. April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. In April, through public relations initiatives, community members
become more conscious of the prevalence of sexual violence in our society. "Recognizing that one in eight women in Rhode Island will be a victim of sexual violence in their lifetime, it is imperative that we develop a
more consistent relationship with a wider cross section of the RI public to work collectively to reduce the prevalence," says Langhammer.
SATRC urges community members statewide to take the step and sign onto action alerts to stay informed year round. If you are interested in getting involved and staying informed through these action alerts, sign up at
www.satrc.org. For additional information contact 421-4100 or email gboulet@satrc.org. |
