"I'm confident that Laura's knowledge of the system and its impact on victims, as well as her strong relationship with the Attorney General's office and local law enforcement, will enhance the work of the CAC and SATRC," says Peg Langhammer, executive director, SATRC. The RI Children's Advocacy Center provides evaluation, evidence gathering, and treatment for child victims of sexual and/or violent physical abuse, and their non-offending family members. In 2004 alone, SATRC provided services to more than 12,000 individuals through their advocacy, crisis intervention, counseling and prevention education programs, as well as the RI Children's Advocacy Center. CAC services are provided statewide. In addition to the main office in Providence, the Children's Advocacy Center has additional interviewing sites in Kent, Newport and Washington counties. There are no fees for CAC services or Adult Advocacy Services. "Laura's diverse experience in advocacy, legal and victim services will certainly benefit SATRC and victims statewide," says Attorney General Patrick Lynch. "Laura has been an important member of the Attorney General's Office for a number of years, and I'm confident that she will help the CAC improve and expand its services to child victims of sexual and physical violence."
