Your Voice, Your View Radio Contest for RI Teens
For Immediate Release: November 21, 2005
The Sexual Assault & Trauma Resource Center is thrilled to offer a new way of educating teens by giving them an opportunity to voice their views about sexual violence prevention and compete to have their
voices heard on the radio! SATRC is inviting RI teenagers, 13-19 to participate in a radio contest. Teens are encouraged to work together to sing, rap, speak and/or converse to create a :60 second radio
ad/commercial that will send a clear message to help stop sexual assault, sexual harassment, rape or rape myths. The goal of the ad is to show guys and girls as positive role models, taking a stand to prevent
sexual violence and attitudes that encourage it. Entries must consist of a team of 2-4 people and at least one male must be on each team.
High Schools statewide have been sent contest information and teachers are encouraged to building homework assignments, class projects or extra credit assignments around this initiative. SATRC's education
department will provide contest participants with a sexual assault prevention workshop at their school. Additionally, 92 PRO-FM and HOT106 Street Teams will visit up to four participating schools.
The winning radio advertisement will be edited by SATRC/Citadel Broadcasting and aired throughout April, which is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The winners will be recognized at a statewide press conference
and will be invited on air to visit Giovanni & Kim in the Morning on 92 PRO-FM and Da Breakfuss Club with Tessa and Baby J on HOT 106. To get involved or to learn more visit
In-kind sponsorship has been provided by 92 PRO-FM, HOT 106, Amica Insurance and Sandy Connor Designs. |
