Providence, RI: April 17, 2006 -- Day One, formerly Sexual Assault & Trauma Resource Center, has partnered with Providence radio station WBRU-FM to promote anti-sexual violence messages to teen boys. The two have scheduled a clean-lyrics, alternative rock concert at Lupo's in April, which is Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

Zox, a band who trace their roots to Brown University, is the featured act. In 2005, WBRU named them the #1 New England Band of the Year. Tickets are $12, and available through Ticketmaster. WBRU will donate $1 from all ticket sales to Day One. Additionally, the station will auction four Pearl Jam concert tickets and the chance to meet band members in May. All proceeds from the auction will be donated to Day One.

"Teens are over-exposed to violent sexual messages and misogynistic viewpoints via the entertainment media," said Peg Langhammer, executive director of Day One. "Early education about inappropriate sexual behavior is the antidote. We're pleased that WBRU has committed to work with us on this important educational program."

"The theme of this year's Sexual Assault Awareness Month is "Men's Role in Prevention." Sexual assault is often regarded as a women's issue, but it is a men's issue as well; thousands of men and boys are sexually assaulted every year and many men know a parent, friend, family member or girlfriend, who is a victim.

Day One will sponsor events and activities throughout the month of April. To learn more, visit www.dayoneri.org.
