The alleged abuse must have occurred in the jurisdiction of a participating police department. Participating departments are those
that have signed an Interagency Agreement to work with the Children's Advocacy Center. These include: Bristol, Burrillville, Charlestown, Coventry, Cumberland, Cranston, Glocester, Hopkinton,
Jamestown, Johnston, Lincoln, Little Compton, Narragansett, Newport, New Shoreham, North Kingstown, North Smithfield, North Providence, Pawtucket, Portsmouth, Providence, RI State Police, Richmond, South
Kingstown, Tiverton, Warren, Warwick, West Greenwich, West Warwick, Westerly, and Woonsocket. (Exceptions may be made upon the request of other police departments).
- Potential should exist for criminal action and/or prosecution.
- The child has made some initial disclosure about the abuse.
Cases are given priority based on: an incident having occurred prior to the child's fourteenth birthday; history of past abuse; the risk of continued sexual, physical and/or emotional abuse of the child; and the
number of victims involved. |
