Some children may experience these symptoms immediately, later in life, or not at all. It depends on the individual child and the support they get from people around them.
- Nightmares
- Bedwetting
- Fear of a person/fear of a type of person (for example: men with beards)
- Becoming withdrawn
- Regressive behavior (thumbsucking, baby talk)
- Change in personal interactions
- Aggressive behaviors (hitting, kicking, biting, breaking toys)
- Depression
- Hurting themselves (head banging, hitting themselves)
- Tantrum and refusing to obey
- Increased touching of their own bodies
- Putting objects into their genitals
- Feeling dirty
- Anxiety
- Embarrassment/Shame
- Loss of trust
- Guilt/Self-blame
- Morbid or suicidal thoughts
