Audrey Morrissey is a nationally renowned leader in the movement against exploitation. As the founder and first Survivor Leader of My Life My Choice’s Survivor Mentoring program, Ms. Morrissey has drawn from her own personal experiences to mentor and empower at-risk youth in Massachusetts for over a decade.
My Life My Choice is a survivor-led program that works to end the commercial sexual exploitation of children by empowering youth and their allies to fight back. In her keynote address, Ms. Morrissey will share some of her personal story to raise awareness surrounding the local and national crisis of human trafficking and to empower the audience to action in the fight against exploitation.
The survivor panel will come prepared to share their experience specifically about leaving “the life,” and what it took to make that final break from, the trauma bond. Time will be available for questions from the audience.

Rhode Island Human Trafficking Taskforce:
Human Trafficking is a growing problem in Rhode Island and New England. It is, in a sense, a form of modern-day slavery involving the sexual abuse and exploitation of children for financial gain. In response, local, state and federal law enforcement agencies have partnered with Day One, the Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF), the Aubin Center at Hasbro Children’s Hospital, the Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office (RIAG), the United States Attorney’s Office (USAO), and other social service organizations in an effort to develop a multi-disciplinary approach to the problem.
This conference was developed by the Human Trafficking Education Subcommittee consisting of Homeland Security Investigations, Providence Police, Cranston Police, St. Mary's Home for Children, Gateway Healthcare, Sojourner House, Dorcas International Institute, Project Weber/Renew and Day One.
